Gasper Signorino

Gasper "Gas" Signorino, 86, of South Tuxedo Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness at 11 p.m. on Monday, July 31, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Mr. Signorino was born on April 26, 1914, in Marcella, Sicily, as the son of the late Rosario and Lora (Agati) Signorino. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Francesca Steed in 1997; and by two brothers, Joseph Signorino in 1997 and Mike Signorino in 1994.

 

On May 18, 1946, in Mishawaka, Ind., he married the former Anne S. Truckowski. Mr. Signorino is survived by his wife Anne of 54 years; three daughters, Nancy A. (David) Romig of Warren, Mich., Suzanne Gromada of Bay City, Mich. , and Gina M. (James) Dahlgren of Niles, Mich.; one son, Thomas J. (Lisa) Signorino of Las Vegas, Nev.; one grandson, Kevin Gromada of Bay City; and one great-granddaughter, Molly Anna Gromada, also of Bay City; several step-grandchildren and step- great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Van Ooteghem of Mishawaka and Mary Sanders of South Bend; and by two brothers, Christopher "Chris" Signorino and Gary Signorino, both of Mishawaka.

 

Mr. Signorino was employed by the former Drewery Brewery for 32 years, and retired in 1972 from Reese Trailer Hitches, Elkhart, Ind. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II where he received a Purple Heart. Mr. Signorino was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #360, and was a member of the DeAmici's Club, Mishawaka. Mr. Signorino was an avid golfer.

 

Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 7, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, South Bend, with Rev. Bob Binta officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
