MISHAWAKA - Max Silber Jr., 69, of 4060 Cottage Ave., died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness. Mr. Silber was the owner/operator of Max's Lincoln Way Liquor Store, South Bend, for 49 years.

He was born June 16, 1924, in Mishawaka. On Aug. 12, 1951, in South Bend, he married Beverly J. Gugle. He survives with two daughters, JoAnn Patty of Granger and Sharon Whitlock of Anaheim, Calif.; two sons, Max Silber IV of Mishawaka and Robert Williamson of Anchorage, Alaska; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Simcox of Miami. A daughter, Judith Rudasics, died in 1991. He was a member of American Legion Post 303 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1167, South Bend.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
