Nellie Sills, 89, residing on South
Main Street, South Bend, passed away at 4:06 p.m. Wednesday,
November 8, 2000, in Memorial Hospital where she had been a
patient since Saturday. Mrs. Sills was born March 26, 1911, in
Atherton, Indiana, as the daughter of John & Nellie (Gruse)
Kravets, and has lived in South Bend since 1943, coming
from Atherton, IN. On July 5, 1930, in Clinton, Indiana, as
Nellie Kravets, she married Ivan Sills. He passed away on
September 21, 1947. She was also preceded in death by a daughter,
Catherine Eileen Chapman on March 11, 2000; her parents;
two brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Sills is survived by three
daughters and their husbands, Rosalie & Dale Woodcox
of New Carlisle, Marjorie & Paul Rupert of Bremen, and
Delores & John Zimmerman of South Bend. Also surviving
are ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and two
great- great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Sills will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 11, in Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Greg D. Crump, pastor of South Side Church of God, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Palmer Funeral Home.
