South Bend – Mrs. Helen J. Skees, 69, of 213 N. Frances Street, died at 9:15 a.m. today in her residence after a brief illness.

She was born Feb. 13, 1897 in South Bend, and had been a lifetime resident. She was married to John S. Skees, who died in 1936.

She is survived by a son, Charles J. of South Bend; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren

Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Orvis Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Services for Mrs. Helen J. Skees, 69, who died Tuesday, will be held Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rev. Joseph F. Murphy CSC officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Rosary will be at 7:30 in the Orvis Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Indian School, Chamberlain, S.D.
