Mary Horvath Skodinski

2/24/1912 – 5/22/1989

               

Mary Horvath Skodinski, 77, of 2381 Redfield Road, died at 12:10am today in her home after an illness.

 

Mrs. Skodinski was born February 24, 1912, in Hungary.  She moved to Niles in 1942, coming from South Bend.  On May 20, 1929, in South Bend, she married William Horvath.  He died in November 1977.  On August 9, 1980, in Niles, she married Ervin J. Skodinski.  He survives with three daughters, Anna Marie McAbee and Elizabeth McQuaid, both of Niles, and Jeanette M. Seltzer of Mishawaka; a stepson, Robert Skodinski of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Sharpe, Rose Fitzgerald and Elizabeth Papczynski, all of Granger; and a brother, Paul Szekula of Osceola.  She was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church.

 

Services will be at 11am Wednesday at the church.  Burial will be in St Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.  Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30am Wednesday at Halbritter Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service.
