John J. Slomski

April 1, 1930August 11, 2005

 

John J. “Jack” Slomski, 75, of Fountainview Place of Mishawaka, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2005, in the care center.

 

Jack was born on April 1, 1930, in South Bend to John S. and Josephine (Kaczmarek) Slomski.  He retired in 1979 from The Associates Corporation of North America.  He them was employed with Jamil Packaging Corporation and Van’s Floral Products.  Jack was a 1948 graduate of South Bend Central High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War.  Jack was not a talkative converser, but had a great sense of humor and would, periodically, surprise everyone with his sharp wit.

 

Survivors include his brother, Charles (Anna) Slomski of South Bend IN; one nephew, C. Christopher Slomski of South Bend IN; one niece, Joanne V. Slomski of ‘south Bend IN; and his former wife, Sylvia Slomski of South Bend IN.  Preceding him in death were his sister, Betty Lou Deffley and his brother-in-law, John V. Deffley.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, August 15, 2005, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive.  Private burial will take place at St Joseph Cemetery.  Friends may call for one hour prior to services on Monday in the funeral home.  Jack’s family greatly appreciates the understanding and friendship given to him y the owner, staff and patrons of the Silver Tower Restaurant, and by his many friends.  The family would also like to thank the staff at Fountainview Place of Mishawaka.  “Your kindness will never be forgotten.”
