MISHAWAKA - Carlene Peterson Smail, 69, died on December
18, 2008, after a 15-month battle with lung cancer. She was a
non-smoker. She was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho, and
received a degree in Nursing from Idaho State College. Carlene
was a Nursing Instructor and worked in various capacities as a
nurse and for 19 years she was an Administrative Assistant to the
Pastor at Christ the King Lutheran Church, South Bend. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Laura Peterson
of Pocatello, Idaho. Carlene is survived by her husband of 46
years, John. Also surviving are her daughter, Laura; son, David;
two grandchildren; and her brother, Michael. She had love for
everyone and was loved by many. If you didn't know her, you
should have. She would have loved you too.
