Services for Ruth M. Smanda, 72, of 1415 Crestwood Blvd., who died at 9:05 Tuesday in he home will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony de Pauda Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where a wake will be at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.

Mrs. Smanda was a former employee of Studebaker Corp. She was born July 6, 1919 in Kalamazoo and lived in South Bend most of her life.  On April 14, 1945 in South bend, as Ruth O’Neill, she married Louis Smanda Jr. He survives with a daughter, Theresa M. Stevenson of Mishawaka; two grandsons; two sisters, Peggy Policinski of South Bend and Dorothy Podden of Portage, Wis.; and two brothers, Charles J. O’Neill of Mendota, Ill and Richard J. O’Neill of Harrisburg, Pa.
