Anna Mae Smith

Mrs. Anna Mae (Stewart) Smith, 90, of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Friday morning, April 7, in St. Paul's Retirement Community. She was born on Aug. 8, 1909, in Desloge, Mo., to Paul and Anna (Sardiga) Kuswara.

 

On Nov. 21, 1970, in South Bend, she married Lawrence Elwin Smith, who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1984. She is survived by her son, Eugene F. (Linda) Steward of Granger, Ind.; two grandchildren, Julie Ann Steward of Niles, Mich., and Ann Marie Steward of Denver, Colo.; her brother, John Paul (Roxie) Kuswara of Fort Worth, Texas; and by her beloved friend, Adam Kaczmarczyk of South Bend.

 

Mrs. Smith retired from Gilbert's Clothing Store where she was a seamstress. She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, South Bend.

 

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, in St. Paul's Retirement Community, with Rev. Tim O'Conner officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family after 9:30 a.m. until services. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, Mich. Contributions in Anna's memory may be made to the St. Paul's Retirement Community. The WELSHEIMER NORTH FUNERAL HOME assisted the family with their arrangements.
