Carl A. Snyder, Sr.

Mr. Carl A. Snyder, Sr., 85, residing on Milburn Blvd., Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Ind. Mr. Snyder was retired in 1981 from the former Gentner Meat Packing Company, South Bend. He was born on Dec. 4, 1912, in Marshall County, Ind., to the late Milo and Louise (Cox) Snyder, and had remained a lifelong area resident.

 

On March 3, 1935, in Bremen, Ind., he married the former Opal Esther Senff, who passed away in 1981. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Flora Benson in 1981; a great-granddaughter, Michelle Watts in 1975; and by a brother, Clyde Snyder. Mr. Snyder is survived by two daughters, Nancy Jo Wisniewski of Mishawaka, Janice Watts of Quinlin, Texas; a son, Carl A. Snyder, Jr., of Mishawaka; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Mary Robbins of Leesburg, Fla.; and by two brothers, George Snyder of Plymouth, Ind., and Gordon Snyder of Stockton, Calif. Mr. Snyder was a member of the People's Church in South Bend.

 

Services for Carl Snyder will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Kenneth Mendenhall will officiate. Burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home.
