Patrick Henry Soboleski

SOUTH BEND - Patrick Henry Soboleski, 60, of South Bend, died at 12:14 AM Wednesday, Nov. 14, in his residence after battling cancer for 14 months. He was born on April 21, 1947, to Henry and Alice (Dobski) Soboleski in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. His father, Henry Soboleski, and in-laws, Harry and Sophie Wrobel, preceded him in death. Pat graduated from Saint Joseph High School, Ball State University and Indiana University South Bend. Mr. Soboleski retired in May 2007 from the South Bend Community School Corporation after teaching at Harrison Elementary and Dickinson Middle School.

 

On April 25, 1970, he married Justine Wrobel at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. Along with his loving wife, Justine, he is survived by his two children, Alissa and Patrick J. Soboleski, both of South Bend, IN; his mother, Alice M. Soboleski of South Bend, IN; one sister, Peggy (Allen) Marker of Wyatt, IN; two sisters-in-law, Marcia (John) Sekendy and Judy (Rusty) Cramer; two nieces, Tricia (Troy) Moreno and Stacy Marker; four nephews, Kyle Marker, John (Tonya) Sekendy, Jayme (Kate) Cramer and Joseph Cramer; and three great-nephews, Tristin and Tanner Moreno, and Maxwell Sekendy.

 

Mr. Soboleski was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and Bowlers Country Club, both in South Bend, and Knights of Columbus Council #4263 in Granger, IN. Pat enjoyed bowling, golfing, reading, fishing, garage nights, and cheering for Notre Dame and Purdue.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM today, Nov. 16, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with Rev. Camillo Tirabassi officiating and Rev. Stephen Sedlock, C.S.C., concelebrating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Patrick J. Soboleski Scholarship Fund, c/o Teachers Credit Union; or to the American Cancer Society, 601 West Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
