SOUTH BEND - Catherine E. Sonneborn, 88, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, died at 1:55 p.m. Friday in the nursing home. Mrs. Sonneborn was associated with Sonneborn's Sports Shop for 20 years.

She was born Jan. 7, 1907, in Whiting, Ind., and had lived here since 1941. On April 6, 1931, in Whiting, as Catherine E. Thiele, she married Charles F. Sonneborn. He died Feb. 19, 1993. Surviving are a son, Charles F. Jr. of Mishawaka; three grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chi Omega and Kappa Kappa Kappa.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the church. Entombment will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today in Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson, where a rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
