Rose M. Spalazzi

Rose M. Spalazzi, 91, of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, Nov. 12, in Hospice House, South Bend, Ind.

She was born Sept. 10, 1912, in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Basilio and Maria (Rossi) Bau. Rose grew up in North Judson, Ind., and on Feb. 14, 1936, she married Frank "Chesco" Spalazzi. The couple made their home in Mishawaka, where they raised their family. Rose was a homemaker who particularly enjoyed cooking, sewing and stamp collecting. She was an active person and her memberships included St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and the Women's Auxiliary of the DeAmici's Club. She also enjoyed traveling.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Carl; a daughter, Carol Ann; and by three brothers and a sister.

Her surviving family includes her husband, Frank "Chesco"; a son, Dennis (Linda) Spalazzi of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Maxine Buysse of Clinton Township, Mich.; a son-in-law, Barry Buysse of Elkhart; five grandchildren, Nicole Buysse of South Bend, Kristi Buysse of Mishawaka, Scott Buysse of Indianapolis, Ryan Spalazzi of New York, NY., and Gina Spalazzi of Bloomington, Ind.; three sisters, Helen Lindstrand of St. Petersburg, Fla., Anne Quist of Alpena, Mich., and Agnes Young of Slidell, La.; and by a brother, Bino Bau of North Judson.

Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, 503 W. Third St., Mishawaka, where a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill St., Mishawaka, with Rev. Fr. Robert A. Yast officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice House in South Bend or to the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Envelopes are available in the funeral home.
