MISHAWAKA - August Speybroeck, 81, of 517 W. 10th Street, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend, after a brief illness. Born in Denzie, Belgium on Oct. 25, 1891 he came to Mishawaka from Belgium in 1912.

 

His wife Melvina Speybroeck, whom he married in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church on June 9, 1917, died Sept. 26 of this year. He was a member of St. Bavo’s Church, the B. K. Club. Post 161, American Legion and veteran of World War I.

 

Surviving are a son, Cyril Speybroeck of Mishawaka; four daughters, Mrs. Clarise Gerstbauer, Mrs. Martina Cackowski, Mrs. Rachel Schafer and Mrs. Lorraine Van Vooren, all of Mishawaka; a brother and three sister in Belgium, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in ST. Bavo’s Catholic Church. Rev. Stephen Cvaniga, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Homwe, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
