Marcel Speybroeck

SOUTH BEND - Marcel Speybroeck, 98, of South 11th Street, Niles, formerly of South Bend, died at 4 a.m. Saturday in his home. Mr. Speybroeck was the former owner of Dixie Grove Tavern & Nightclub, Niles, and S & S Quality Cleaners, South Bend. He was born March 14, 1897, in Dheinze, Belgium, and lived in South Bend since 1922.

 

On Sept. 20, 1924, in South Bend, he married Martha VanOutreve. She died July 10, 1977. He is survived by two daughters, Gloria J. Huemmer of Houston and Marcie J. Niemier of South Bend; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, B.K. Club, Mishawaka, and the former Volkskring Club.

 

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive.

SOUTH BEND - Services for Marcel Speybroeck, 98, of South 11th Street, Niles, formerly of South Bend, who died at 4 a.m. Saturday in his home, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m.
