Brother Irenaeus Stackhouse CSC, 77, a member of the Holy Cross order for more than 50 years, died in the community infirmary at Notre Dame about 5 p.m. Sunday after a long illness. He was born July 23, 1874 in Topeka, Kan., and first joined the order as a novice in March, 1901. He took his final vows on July 4, 1905 and for 20 years headed the maintenance department at the university. He is survived by a nephew, Rev. W. F. Stackhouse SJ, a member of the faculty at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Mo.

 

The body will be in Corby Hall at Notre Dame until the funeral at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in the community cemetery at Notre Dame.
