Roger H. Stanz

Services for Roger H. Stanz, 67, of 1704 E. Hoover Ave., who died Saturday evening in his home, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Welscheimer Funeral Home. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the YMCA.

 

Mr. Stanz retired as a partner of Stanz Cheese Co. He was born Sept. 5, 1920 in Sheboygan, Wis. and lived in South Bend most of his life.

 

On May 20, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas, he married Elizabeth M. Anderson, who survives. Also surviviung are two daughters, Kathryn Stanz at home, Susan Pasley of Granville, Ohio; a son, James R. of Mishawaka; three grandchildren, a brother John D. of Empire, Mich. He was a graduate of Culver Military Academy and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a masters degree from Michigan State University. He was a veteran of World War II, during which he served as a first lieutenant in the infantry, and was a member of Portage Lodge 675, F & Am; the Scotish Rite Valley of South Bend; South Bend Shire Club; and the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee.
