MISHAWAKA - Augusta L. Steenbeke, 86, of West Fourth Street, died at 5:42 a.m. today in Countryside Place. Mrs. Steenbeke was born July 13, 1909, in Moerbeke-Waas, Belgium, and lived in Mishawaka since 1911.

 

On Sept. 4, 1928, in Mishawaka, as Augusta L. DeWinter, she married Arthur Steenbeke. He survives with three daughters, Angela M. Weber and Nancy L. Dakins, both of Mishawaka, and Patricia H. Marsic of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five sons, Arthur E. Jr. and Joseph J., both of Mishawaka, John C. of Elkhart, Thomas F. of Houston and William A. of South Bend; 37 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, August DeWinter of Mishawaka. Three daughters, Rosemary Kamerer, Dorothy Varda and Joanne Kloski, and three grandchildren preceded her in death.

 

She was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Third Order of St. Francis, and Catholic Society of Foresters.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hahn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
