Lois Ann Steenbeke, 70, of S. Wells St. Mishawaka, passed away at 7:15 a.m., Monday, Dec. 27 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, of natural causes. Lois was born on Jan. 19, 1934, in Mishawaka, to Cyril and Elizabeth (DeBoever) DeLaruelle, who preceded her in death.
On Nov. 27, 1952, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, as the former Lois DeLaruelle, she married Arthur Steenbeke. She is survived by her husband of 52 years; a daughter, Betty (Harry) Ashley of Aliso Viejo, CA; three grandchildren, Brenda (Pat) Meagher, Monica Ashley and Renee Ruiz; one great-grandchild, Vivian Ruiz; a sister, Joan Tidwell of Cherokee, OK; and two brothers, Charles (Joyce) DeLaruelle of Mishawaka and Larry (Georgina) DeLaruelle of South Bend.
Lois worked for Elbode's Service Station for 13 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka; a past member of Daughters of Isabella; she loved sewing and crocheting and loved to decorate cakes for her family. She was very good at all the things she did and made a lot of people happy with her crafts. Lois will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wed. Dec. 29, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Barry England, of St. Bavo Catholic Church, officiating.
