John M. Steinhagen

John M. Steinhagen, 84, of North Merrifield, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 5:49 p.m. Saturday, July 28, in the Countryside Nursing Home, Mishawaka. John was born on Oct. 16, 1916, in Hunnington County, Ind., to David and Ethel D. (Hildebrand) Steinhagen, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James W. Steinhagen.

 

On May 13, 1941, in Plymouth, Ind., John married Mavis M. Guard. John leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of more than 60 years, Mavis; his son, Darrell Steinhagen of Niles, Mich.; two daughters, Jyll (Terry) Pollock of Niles and DeEtta (Albert) Tengelitsch of New Mexico; two sisters, Martha E. Wood of Arizona and DeEtta R. Wood of Texas; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.

 

John was retired from I&M Electric after more that 40 years of service and was a graduate of Riley High School. He was a member of the NRA, Edwardsburg Conservation Club, and was a 50- year member of the Eagle Club.

 

Friends may visit a from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind., and one hour before services on Wednesday. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
