SOUTH BEND - Wilma E. Stephens, 82,
of Wilson Avenue, died at 7 a.m. Thursday in her home after an
illness. Mrs. Stephens retired in 1977 from Indiana &
Michigan Electric Co. in accounts payable after 33 years of
service. She was born March 11, 1912, in Elizabethtown, Ky., and
lived in South Bend most of her life, coming from Elizabethtown.
On Dec. 31, 1933, in South Bend, as Wilma E.
Miller, she married Foster A. Stephens. He died May 17,
1984. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Phillips of
South Bend; and a sister, Gretchen Miller of San Diego. She was
past secretary of South Bend Garden Club, member of the Progress
Club, Elks Lodge 235 Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in
Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in St.
Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 4 to
8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be
made to the church.
