Albert A. Stevens

MISHAWAKA - Albert A. Stevens, 78, of Esther Avenue, died at 4:52 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Hospital of natural causes. Mr. Stevens retired in 1977 as the chief chemist at Indiana & Michigan Electric Co. after 35 years of service. He was born April 18, 1915, in South Bend and was a lifelong resident.

 

On July 26, 1941, in South Bend, he married Evelyn Brandley. She survives with a daughter, Ruth Stevens of Mishawaka; and four sisters, Hazel Kollar of South Bend, Ida Belle Grant of Bradenton, Fla., Miriam Wardlow of Clarksville, Ind., and Myrtle Edison of North Liberty.

 

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ and its Over 60's, Order of Eastern Star in Osceola, Mishawaka Masonic Lodge 130, Scottish Rite Investment Club and Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
