Evelyn (Eva C.) Stevens

Oct. 17, 1910 - July 21, 1996

WAKARUSA - Evelyn (Eva C.) Stevens, 85, of 304 E. Harrison St., Wakarusa, Ind., died at 10:16 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at Elkhart General Hospital of congestive heart failure.

She was born Oct. 17, 1910, in Mishawaka, to Ernest and Mary (Nitcher) McDonald. On July 20, 1935, in Woodland, she married Ronald E. Kline. He died on Jan. 8, 1973. She then married Albert Stevens on April 8, 1982.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, Ron Kline, Jr. of Florida, Raymond Kline of Georgia and Roger Kline of South Bend, Ind.; four step-daughters, Mrs. Theodore (Betty) Roose of Mishawaka, Ind., Mrs. Lollie (Nancy) Savala of Milford, Ind., Mrs. Michael (Betty) Milton of Nappanee, Ind., Mrs. Rainer (Barbara) Williams of Sacramento, Calif.; three step-sons, Eugene Stevens of Mishawaka, Ind., Rick Stevens of Goshen and Ed Stevens of Wakarusa; four sisters, Pearl Roush of Bremen, Ind., Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Berger of Michigan, Mrs. Max (Ruth) Curtis of Florida, Mrs. Dean (Pauline) Chizum of Mishawaka, Ind.; nine grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Preceding her in death were one stepson, Dale Kline and two brothers, Harold and Ernest McDonald and one sister, Edith Nichols, and one granddaughter, Penny Kline.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Woodland. She sang in the St. Joseph County Chorus, member of the Ladies Aid Society of the church, Madison Township Home Economics and a past District Representative of the American Red Cross.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, Wakarusa. Services will be on Wednesday, July 24, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Woodland at 10 a.m. She will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

The Rev. Karl Brenner of the St. Paul Lutheran Church will conduct the service. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Woodland.
