Mary M. Steward

Mrs. Mary Magdalene Steward, 79, dear wife, mother and grandmother, who resided on North Meade Street, South Bend, Ind., peacefully passed away following an extended illness in the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 4, at Memorial Hospital.

On April 2, 1919, she was born to the union of James and Georgia Harper. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rose Jackson; and by her twin brother, Samuel Harper.

Coming from Benton Harbor, Mich., she moved to South Bend in 1947. In that same year she was united in holy matrimony to Bennie Steward in South Bend.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Bennie Steward; a daughter, Delores Ann Rawls of Doltin, Ill.; a son, Derrick Steward of South Bend; four grandsons, Devon, (twins) Byron and Benjamin, and Shawn Rawls, all of Doltin; and two godsons, Donald Alford, Jr., and Robin Baker.

Mrs. Steward was a member of Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ, where she was a past member of the Usher Board and the Hospitality Committee.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Alford's Mortuary, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.

Alford's Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
