Walter A. Stiebritz Sr., 94, of Mishawaka, passed away at
4:35 a.m., Sunday, January 27. 2008, in Valley View Health Care
Center, Elkhart. Walter was born on August 20, 1913, in Buchanan,
MI to the late Walter A. and Mabel (Hildebrand) Stiebritz.
On August 25, 1936, he married Mary Madeline
"Maddie" Straub. She passed away on March 18,
2005. He is survived by three daughters, Janet M. White of
Mishawaka, Sue E. (Grover) Walker of Bean Station, TN, and
Muriel A. Gordy of Osceola; one son, Walter A. (Cynthia)
Stiebritz Jr. of Mishawaka; 14 grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Anne Bickard
of Buchanan, MI.
Walter was a graduate of Columbus High
School. He had lived in the Michiana area since he was 21 years
old, working for Dodge Mfg. for 44 years before retiring. He was
a member of Cedar Road Missionary Church, Fraternal Order of
Eagle, Elkhart and will be remembered for his love of bowling.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2008, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2008, with Rev. Terry Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
