GRANGER - D. Jeanne Stilp, 86, of Granger, IN, passed away at 5:22 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, in her home. Jeanne was born on December 17, 1921, in South Bend, to John Donald and Dorothy (McCance) Lower.

 

On August 17, 1945, in South Bend, as D. Jeanne Lower, she married Frank C. Stilp, who preceded her in death on January 5, 1998. Survivors include one daughter, Cindi Gluchowski of St. Joseph, MI; one son, Richard "Rick" (Shirley) Stilp of South Bend, IN; six grandchildren, Jack A. (Deborah) Stilp, Greggy (Norma) Gluchowski, Jayne (Barry) Flanagan, Joshua (Karoline) Gluchowski, Adam Gluchowski and Lucas "Duke" (Lorrie) Gluchowski; 10 great-grandchildren, Geena, P.J., Robbie, Ryan, Lucinda, Jonathon, Vanessa, Chrystal, Moran and Kobie; one great-great-grandchild, Cameron; and by one brother, Thomas (Kathy) Lower of Granger, IN.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in St. Pius X Church. Friends may call for one hour prior to services on Wednesday in the church. Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.

 

Jeanne was a 1939 graduate of South Bend Central High School. She was an avid golfer and tennis player. Jeanne was a former member of Morris Park County Club; past president of the South Bend Duplicate Bridge Club; in October 2004 she became a Life Master Bridge Player; a former Service Guild member; a member of the Art League; and was a member of the University Club at Notre Dame. Jeanne was a volunteer at St. Joseph Medical Center and Logan School. She was the "Best Mother Ever"
