Everett E. Stilson

April 18, 1907 - April 10, 1997

Everett E. Stilson, 89, died April 10, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Naples, Fla., after a brief illness.

Everett was born April 18, 1907 to Floyd A. and Lulu Shafer Stilson in Plymouth, Ind. He graduated from Central High School in South Bend, Ind., and attended Purdue University until the depression.

He married Gladys E. Boyle of Foley Ala., on April 15, 1934, He was employed by Western Electric, Leighty Jeweler as a registered watchmaker and Bendix Corporation as an electrical engineer. He was a member of Church of God (Abrahamic Faith) and several professional organizations.

Since retirement from Bendix he and Gladys traveled to Florida for the winter and, until recently, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Minnesota in July. Everett loved music, boating/canoeing, painting and carpentry. Every place he went he improved things. He never ceased adding to his vast wealth of knowledge and using it to help others. He was well respected and loved by all who knew him.

Everett is survived by his wife Gladys, two children, Sylvia Harrison (Bert) of South Bend and Eugene (Janet Turner) of Oregon, III.; five grandchildren, Bern Harrison of Granger, Ind., Beth Mattison of Chelsea, Mich. Richard Stilson of Winder, Ga. Marianne Hudson of Atlanta, Ga. and Randy Stilson of Oregon, lil., six great-grandchildren; and a niece.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in Timberland Bible Church, 16623 State Road 23, South Bend. Internment will be in Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
