Luther L. Stoehr

Aug. 23, 1917 – Feb. 14, 1989

Mishawaka – Luther L. Stoehr, 71 of 731 E. Seventh Street, died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in his home after an illness. He retired May 1, 1882 from Uniroyal after 45 years of service. He was born Aug. 23, 1917 in Detroit, and had spent most of his life in this area, coming from Detroit.

 

On Oct. 28, 1939 in Mishawaka, he married Maxine E. Housand. She survives with a daughter Karen L. Schroeder of Mishawaka; a grandson, Mark Schroeder of Mishawaka; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Schroeder of Mishawaka; and a brother Albert L. Stoehr Jr. of Paragon, Ind.

 

Mr. Stoehr was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of East United Methodist Church, Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 130 in Mishawaka, Kiwanis Club, American Legion Post 161 in Mishawaka, Chapter 83 RAM Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of South Bend, Eastern Star Chapter 276 OES and Uniroyal Men’s Club.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Masonic Lodge 130 will have a service at 7:30 Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to East United Methodist Church or Hospice of St. Joseph County.
