MISHAWAKA - Mary E. Stokes, 92, formerly of Mishawaka,
passed away during the early morning hours of May 11th in the
Sylvan Health Care Center in Clearwater, FL. Mary was born on
March 11, 1916, in Culver, IN, to the late Charles and Emma (VonEhr)
Overmyer.
On February 11, 1940, she married Willard W.
Stokes, who preceded her in death on January 29, 1983. Mary's
longtime friend, Louis Swinehart, remains in the Sylvan
Health Care Center. Mary worked for the St. Joseph Bank and Trust
in the housing allowance department; she retired in 1985. She is
survived by a brother, Russell V. Overmyer; two nieces,
Kay Hyland and Judy Sawhook; and two nephews, Tom
and Herb Jones. Mary was preceded in death by a sister,
Margaret Warren, and a nephew, Jerry Kimmel.
A memorial service will be held on June 14th
at 10:30 a.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St.,
Mishawaka. Burial will take place at Burr Oak Cemetery near
Culver, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Creative
Christian Ministry, 129 Briar Creek Blvd., Safety Harbor, FL.
