Leonard L. Stopper

July 20, 1927August 3, 1996

 

Leonard L. Stopper, 69, of 1105 S. Hendricks St., died at 4am, Saturday, August 3, in his home.

 

Mr. Stopper was born July 20, 1927, in Mishawaka IN, and had lived here all of his life.  He retired from L. O. Gates in 1989, after 40 years of service.  On August 24, 1968, Leonard married the former Vera Metz, who survives.

 

Mr. Stopper is also survived by three daughters, Linda Harlan of San Francisco CA, Rebecca Viscek of South Bend IN, and Janet Vandergriff of OH; four stepsons, William and Mark Smith, both of South Bend IN, Michael Smith of Fort Lauderdale FL and Rodger Parker of LaPorte IN; two stepdaughters, Patricia Joan Nolan of Charlotte MI, and Jan Kolberg of Mishawaka IN; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Trapp, who lives in Buchanan MI.  His brother, Ade Stopper preceded him in death.

 

Mr. Stopped was a World War II Navy veteran and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign War Post 360, Mishawaka IN.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday, August 7, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, where friends may call from 4 to 8pm, today. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
