Wilber R. Stough, Jr.

Wilber R. Stough, Jr., 81, born on Sept. 5, 1915, in Laurel, Md., died Jan. 14, 1997, in Brevard, N.C. He is survived by his daughter, M. Lynn Timmons of Niles, Mich.; a sister, Harriet Thomas of Dowagiac, Mich.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Walker) Stough, who died on Nov. 18, 1996, and by his son, Robert M. Stough, who also preceded him in death on, Dec. 2, 1996.

Mr. Stough was a retired accountant with Kemper Insurance Company. He was a life member of the F & AM Peninsular Lodge 10, and a life member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 283, both of Dowagiac. Mr. Stough served two terms as mayor of Dowagiac in the early 1950's. He was a World War II combat veteran, and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Memorial services for both Mr. and Mrs. Stough will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Federated Church in Dowagiac, where Rev. Randy Murphy will officiate along with the O.E.S. Chapter 283 and F & AM Peninsular Lodge 10 of Dowagiac.
