Anton J. Strantz

Anton J. "Tony" Strantz, 70, of Club Drive, South Bend, Ind., died on Saturday morning, Dec. 16, in his home. Tony was a sales representative for the Calpro Fence Company, South Bend, for over 25 years. He was born on July 31, 1930, in South Bend, to Anton J. and Katherine (Thuringer) Strantz, who preceded him in death. Tony was also preceded in death by his brother, John Strantz.

 

He is survived by his beloved Norma; four sisters, Mary Ann Dixon of Hartford, Mich., Kathryn (William) Screes of Granger, Ind., Betty Strantz and Margaret Strantz, both of South Bend; nieces and nephews including Pam Piehl, Kitty (Frank) Whitaker, Robert and Michael (Christine) Screes, John, Jeffrey (Brenda) and Tom Strantz, Debbie (Bill) Theobold; and adopted children, Charles, Kenneth and Thomas Glore, Diane Whiteman and Carolyn Waldron; and by many great-nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

 

Tony was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, and was an avid bowler in the Michiana area. He served in the Korean War with the United States Marine Corps, and was a graduate of South Bend Catholic High School.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Stephen's Catholic Church, South Bend, with Rev. Thomas Lemos, C.S.C., pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., where a prayer service will be said at 6 p.m. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to St. Stephen's Church, 1102 W.
