He was preceded in death by his parents, Leopold and Elizabeth (Tschida) Strantz; four brothers, Andrew, Leopold, Ignatius and Steve; and by a sister, Katherine.

On Nov. 22, 1930, in South Bend, he married Mary E. Nemes, who died on Dec. 31, 1990. He is survived by a son, George S. (Theresa) Strantz of South Bend; and by a daughter, Sharon Ann Spagnuolo, with whom he resided in South Bend. He leaves behind seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, whom he loved and cherished.

George worked at many places in his lifetime, including Studebaker, but he retired from South Bend Lathe Works in 1965. He was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church. Dad loved to read, fish and make things out of wood. He built the house that he died in. He loved spending time with Mary, his wife of 60 years. They did many things together. He loved to sing old songs and recite poetry, whether he was driving or just around the house. Dad had this saying, "Great Life if you don't weaken," and he never did, till the end. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S.
