Clay F. Strasser, Jr.

Clay F. Strasser, Jr., 72, of Mayflower Road in South Bend, Ind., passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, at Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center in South Bend. Clay was born on Sept. 9, 1926, in White County, Ind., to Clay and Emily (Blackburn) Strasser, who both preceded him in death.

 

He owned many service stations, Texaco, Sinclair and Shells. He also worked for South Bend Electric and retired in 1994. Clay served our country in the United States Navy and was discharged in 1946.

 

On Aug. 10, 1945, Clay married Phyllis L. Clements in South Bend. Clay leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Phyllis; two sons, Herb (Lois) Strasser and Jack (Debbie) Strasser; a daughter, Joyce Clements, all from South Bend; five brothers, Paul Strasser of South Bend, Art Strasser of North Port, Fla., Harold Strasser of Placentia, Calif., Frank Strasser of Bend, Ore., and Wayne Strasser of South Bend; five sisters, Thelma Greenwood of South Bend, Maxine Brown of South Bend, Mary Papczynski of Lakeville, Ind., Gladys Kintz of Placentia, Calif., and Ruth Whitesell of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Kimberly Strasser, Clay Strasser, Amanda Clements, Angela Clements, Catrina Hardy, Andrew Strasser, Amber Brummett, Derek Brummett and Jacob Strasser; four great-grandchildren, Makala Clements, Austin Clements-Doan, Tyler Hardy and Ravyn Hardy.

 

Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 22, with Pastor Terry Wallace officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church, 4849 West Ford in South Bend.
