Estel "Wayne" Strasser (May 19, 1937 -- Nov. 19, 2006)

Estel "Wayne" Strasser, 69, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, November 19, 2006, in the Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation Center of South Bend.

 

Wayne was born on May 19, 1937, in South Bend, to Clay and Emily (Blackburn) Strasser. He had been employed with the former Bendix Corporation, Janco Products, Inc., and had owned and operated several service stations.

 

On April 11, 1987, Wayne married Sharon Cauffman Edmonds, who survives. Surviving with his wife are his children, Wayne Strasser Jr. of South Bend, Larry (Doris) Strasser of South Bend, Tina (Jon) McCray of South Bend, John Strasser of South Bend, Doug (Frensarmie) Strasser of South Bend, Tammy (Les) Dant of South Bend and Steve (Dawn) Edmonds of South Bend; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Thelma Greenwood of South Bend, Paul (Mary) Strasser of South Bend, Mary (Al) Papczynski of Lakeville, Indiana, and Ruth Whitesell of South Bend.

Brothers and sisters, Art, Harold, Frank and Clay Strasser, Maxine Brown, Gladys Kintz, Ruby Irene Strasser and Raymond Eugene Strasser, all preceded him in death.

Memorial services will held at 11 AM Wednesday, November 22, 2006, in the Northway Church of Christ, 19525 Auten Road, South Bend, IN 46637, where friends may visit one hour prior to services in the church.

Mr. Strasser was a veteran of the Navy Reserves.

The family would like to thank Dr. Garcia and his staff for their expert medical care over the past 7 1/2 years.

SOUTH BEND -- Estel "Wayne" Strasser, 69, died Sunday in Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Edmonds); two daughters, Tina McCray and Tammy Dant, both of South Bend; five sons, Wayne Strasser Jr. , Larry Strasser, John Strasser, Doug Strasser and Steve Edmonds, all of South Bend; three sisters, Thelma Greenwood and Ruth Whitesell, both of South Bend, and Mary Papczynski of Lakeville; and a brother, Paul of South Bend. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Northway Church of Christ, where friends may call one hour before services. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
