Jack W. Straughn

November 8, 1932 – March 27, 2001

 

Jack W. Straughn, 68, of Filbert Road, Mishawaka, passed away after a brief illness at 8:10am on Tuesday, March 27, in Saint Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka.

 

Jack was born on November 8, 1932, in Rockville IN, to the late Hugh & Callie (Earhart) Straughn.

 

In 1956, in South Bend, Jack married the former Barbara Harper, who survives.  He is also survived by three daughters, Jackie (Shawn) Annis and Jami Hayes, both of Mishawaka, and Paula Straughn of Osceola IN; and a special friend, Todd Roth of Osceola; six grandchildren, Nick and Tony Annis, and Ashley and Joshua Hayes, all of Mishawaka, and Angela and Zach Straughn of Osceola; two sisters, Aileen Walters of Mishawaka and Thelma Griffin of Florida; a brother, Calvin Straughn of Granger IN; and his beloved dog, Roscoe.

 

Jack had retired in 1994 from NIBCO (Northern Indiana Brass Company) of Elkhart after 37½ years of service.  He had also been a paratrooper in the Army during the Korean War.

 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Thursday, March 29, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka.  Services will be held in the funeral home at 11am on Friday, March 30, with Rev. G. Scott Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
