SOUTH BEND - Evelyn H. (Whitaker) Stroobandt, 96, passed
away at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, in her residence.
Evelyn was born on October 28, 1910, in Crumstown, IN, to the
late Steve and Anna (Makielski) Borlik. Also
preceding her in death were brothers, Joe and Edward Borlik; and
a sister, Margaret Marshall.
Surviving Evelyn are her daughters, Joan Albaugh
of Mishawaka and Eileen Weston of Granger; son, Carl Whitaker
of South Bend; grandchildren, Ron Albaugh, Charles (Cheryl)
Albaugh, Robert (Mary Ellen) Albaugh, and Julie (Jon) Gray;
five great-grandchildren; a sister, Henrietta Bilinski of
Crumstown; and brothers, Leo Borlik and Stan (Dorothy) Borlik,
both of South Bend. Evelyn was a parishioner at Holy Family
Catholic Church. She was a supervisor at Bonnie Doons for over 20
years before retiring.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday
Aug. 26, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South
Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, in Holy
Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph
Cemetery, South Bend.
