Theodore S. Stroup, Jr.

June 20, 1933 - May 15, 1999

Theodore S. Stroup, Jr., 65, of Sunnyfield Place, South Bend, Ind., died at 6:05 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, in Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 20, 1933, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Theodore S. and Irene M. Maxon Stroup. An avid sports fan, Theodore had coached little league baseball, and enjoyed traveling. He was a former member of the Moose, and bowled on the Torrington bowling team where he bowled a perfect game. Theodore served his country in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged in 1955. He retired in 1997 from Lock Joint Tube, and had previously worked at the Studebaker and Torrington Corporations.

 

On July 9, 1960, in South Bend, he married Gloria (Clark) Hendrix, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Lisa Diane (Mark) McCoy of South Bend; a son, Harold (Gail) Hendrix of South Bend; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Jonathan Hendrix, and Sarah ''Sweety Pie'' McCoy; three sisters, V. Jean Babcock of Leamington, Ontario, Canada, and Doris Wildrick and Marguerite Gaertner, both of South Bend; and by a brother, Wendell L. Stroup of Valencia, Calif.

 

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, with Rev. Adolph Lacy officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
