BREMEN - Nelson D. Stuber, 83, of Bremen, died at 2:50 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Bremen Community Hospital in Bremen. Nelson was born November 12, 1926, in Mishawaka, to the late Frank and Nellie (Kline) Stuber. Also preceding him in death were a brother, Don, and a granddaughter, Kristin Schalliol. Surviving Nelson are his four sons, Jeff (Ann) Stuber of Mishawaka, David (Becky) Stuber of Elkhart, Kim (Claudia) Stuber of North Liberty, Eric Stuber of Lakeville; seven grandchildren, Michael (Marisa) Stuber, Jeanna (Kevin) Pugh, Jamie (Mary Ellen) Stuber, Julie (Bill) Jones, Jessica (Aaron) Williams, Alex Stuber, Brittany Stuber; and 13 great-grandchildren. Nelson was self-employed as a carpenter. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during WWII. He was a lifelong member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Woodland and enjoyed fishing, nature and woodworking. He was well-known for his love of gardening as well as for the beautiful flowers that he grew. Visitation for Nelson will be Wednesday, February 10, from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at noon in St. John United Church of Christ, State Road 331 in Woodland. The Rev. Jo An Schaetzle will officiate, with burial at the church cemetery. Hahn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
