Marcus Sult

Marcus "Joe" Sult, 86, of Crumstown, Ind., passed away in his residence on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 8:37 p.m. after a long illness. He was born Oct. 17, 1917, near New Carlisle to John and Lizzie (Ferrell) Sult.

 

On Sept. 11, 1940, he married the former Virginia Beringer, who survives. She was the daughter of Edward and Chrystal (Day) Beringer. Mark was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and sisters, Harvey Sult, Pearl Kellogg, Ethel Robinson and Loy Sult. Also surviving is a son, Dennis G. Sult; a daughter, Darlene Kay Ralph; a granddaughter, Sarah Sue Sult, all of Crumstown; and a sister, Ann (Bickel) Pease.

 

Mark graduated from New Carlisle High School in 1936. He retired in 1981 from the AM General Corporation and he also worked 23 years at the Studebaker Corporation. He was on the Warren Twp. Fire Department for almost 50 years and helped build one of the early fire trucks at Station 2, where he helped establish the station there.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23. in the St. Joseph Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Burial will be at the Crumstown Cemetery. Memorial gifts can be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or the American Cancer Society.
