MISHAWAKA - Services for Robert F. Swadener, 70, of St. Joseph's Care Center-West, South Bend, formerly of Mishawaka, who died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the nursing home, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Mishawaka Lions Club.

 

Mr. Swadener retired in 1982 from Dodge Division of Reliance Electric Co. He was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Logansport, Ind., and lived in Mishawaka most of his life. He is survived by a daughter, Rachel Lathrop of San Francisco; four sons, Michael A. of South Bend, Patrick J. of Los Osos, Calif., Thomas P. of Tempe, Ariz., and Daniel R. of Akron, Ohio; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia A. Fischer of Monticello, Ind., and Martha Chupp of Lafayette, Ind.; and four brothers, John R. of New Orleans, James L. of Mishawaka, Paul of Eugene, Ore., and Marc of Boulder, Colo. He was a member of Mishawaka Lions Club, past member of Knights of Columbus 1878, and was a veteran of the Marine Corps.
