Elizabeth Sweitzer

Mrs. Elizabeth (Bess) Sweitzer, 83, South Bend, Indiana, died at 4:05 a.m. on Sept. 6, 1978, in Columbus, Ohio, where she had been visiting her son, Robert F.

She was born Bess McIntee at Bradford on June 7, 1895, and attended Bradford Grade School with a sister Kathryn and brother Leo. Her mother died while she was small and the children were raised by Mr. and Mrs. John McIntee.

She lived most of her life in the South Bend area where she was employed by the South Bend Water Works and retired from the St. Joseph County Auditor's office.

In July, 1917, she married Walter A. Sweitzer in Chicago, who died in 1963.

Surviving are sons Robert F., Columbus, Ohio; James R., South Bend, and Walter A. Jr., also South Bend; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Kathryn

of Cleveland, Ohio.

Services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, South Bend, and burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.

Mrs. Sweitzer was a member of the St. Patrick's Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and the First District Democratic Club, Indiana.
