Sam Huston Swindle

SOUTH BEND - Mr. Sam Huston Swindle, 75, born in Oakman, Alabama, on January 6, 1933, had lived many years in Indiana until retiring from I&M Electric in 1993. He passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2008. He was a resident of Elberta, Alabama. Mr. Swindle was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elberta, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gleason and Trudie Swindle, and by his sister, Ruth Short. Mr. Swindle is survived by his wife, Carol Swindle of Elberta, Alabama; one daughter, Janice Swindle of South Bend, Indiana; two sons, Danny Swindle of Newport, Michigan, and Tom Swindle of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren; one sister, Mary Crawford of Elberta, Alabama; and four brothers, Jack and Joe Swindle of Foley, Alabama, Tom Swindle of Seminole, Alabama, and Bill Swindle of Lafayette, California. The family received friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Elberta, Alabama, on Wednesday, July 30, 2008.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Rev. Charles Carpenter officiated. Friends may also call from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, August 2, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Elberta, Alabama, 12891 South Main Street, Elberta, AL 36530; or to Community Hospice of Foley, Alabama.
