SOUTH BEND - Evelyn M. Szczechowski,
79, of Ritschard Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died at 6:40 a.m. on
Thursday, Nov. 27, in her residence. Mrs. Szczechowski was born
on April 18, 1918, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area
resident.
On Nov. 27, 1937, as Evelyn Holewczynski,
she married Ben Szczechowski, who survives. She is also survived
by three daughters, Patricia (Roger) Smolka, Geraldine
(Truman) Nordhagen and Sandra (Ron) Wesolowski, all
of South Bend; two grandsons, Daren Wesolowski of South Bend and
Robert Smolka of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Alice Grochowski
of South Bend and Dorothy Golichowski of Dowagiac, Mich.;
and by a brother, Clem Holewczynski of South Bend. Mrs.
Szczechowski was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Hall,
who died on Jan. 24, 1994.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday in St.
Adalbert Catholic Church, where she was a member.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday
in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a
Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Entombment will be in St. Joseph
Cemetery.
