September 13, 1915 – July 29, 2005

Charlotte A. Szczerba, 89,of Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa IN, formerly of North Brookfield Street, South Bend, passed away 3:30pm, Friday, July 29, 2005.

Charlotte was born on September 13, 1915, in Gary IN, to Frank and Maryanne (Cisowski) Haj, and had lived in South Bend for 66 years.  Her husband, Mitchell J. Szczerba, preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Lorraine (William) Kuntz of West Chicago IL; one son, Stanley J. (Gina Lee) Szczerba of South Bend; four grandchildren, Rebecca Ann (Peter) Lauridsen of New Carlisle IN, Michael D. (Jessica) Szczerba of South Bend, William Kuntz of Roselle IL, and Neil (Cindy) Kuntz of Glendale Heights IL; two great grandchildren, Hannah Lauridsen of New Carlisle, and Joseph Mitchell Szczerba of South Bend; and by two sisters, Wanda Burke of Merrillville IN, and Virginia Palmer of South Bend.

Private visitation and services will take place at a later date.

Charlotte was a member of Holy Cross Parish, Altar Rosary Society, and Quilters Club.  She was also a member of a number of the local Harvest House Clubs in South Bend.  Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
