Sister Mary Marco Szymanska CSC

Sister Mary Marco CSC, of St. Mary’s Convent died there this morning after a brief illness. She was born Leocadia Szymanska on April 10, 1883 in Poland. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on Dec. 7, 1907 and was received as a novice on Aug. 15, 1908. She made her final profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1910. During her active years she was a registered nurse  serving st St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho from 1909 until retiring in 1962. She lived at St. Mary’s Convent and was active in its community life until a few days before her death. Survivors include a sister, Sister M. Stanislaus CSC of St. Mary’s Convent and a cousin Rev. Edgar Syzmanska CSC of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend.

 

Friends may call up to the time of services in the convent parlors where rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Saturday. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus.
