Sister M. Sanctina CSC, 80, of St. Mary’s Convent died Tuesday evening in the convent after a lengthy illness. Born on June 1, 1895 in South Bend as Mary Szymanska, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Jan. 11, 1913. She was received as anovice July 16, 1913 and professed her vows on Aug. 15, 1915. A graduate of St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing in Anderson, she served as nurse and x-ray technician at St, Joseph Hospital, South Bend from 1920 to 1949. She was assigned to the Holy Cross Convent infirmary from 1949 to 1955., and served at St. Mary’s Convent Infirmary until a year ago.Surviving are two sisters, Sister M. Marco CSC of St. Mary’s Convent, and Sister M. Stanislaus of Our Lady of Holy Cross.

 

Friends may call in St. Mary’s Convent parlor until services. Services will be at 1:30 p .m. Thursday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus.
