South Bend - Jacqueline J. Tafelski, 70, of South Bend, passed away in her residence at 10:30 p.m. Monday, September 18th, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs. Tafelski was born on December 16, 1935, in South Bend, and was a lifetime resident of the Michiana area.

On October 13, 1956, in South Bend, as Jacqueline J. Cebrat, she married Daniel V. Tafelski, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sue M. (Mark) Ryan-Brown of South Bend and Cheryl L. Bousquet of South Bend; three grandchildren whom she loved and cherished, Brandon B. Ryan, Alexandra J. Ryan and Ashleigh D. Bousquet, all of South Bend; and a brother, Jan F. Cebrat of South Bend.

Jacqueline was an Instructional Aide Title I for 30 years for the South Bend Community School Corp. She also owned and operated her own business for many years, known as Cakes by Jacque.

Jacqueline was looking forward to October 13, 2006, to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary.

She was everybody's Grandma, loved sports and watching her grandchildren every chance she had. She loved cooking, shopping, and loved to go to the Blue Chip in Michigan City. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family as they did her. She was an auxiliary member of American Legion Post 357 and a member of St. Casimer's Catholic Church.

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 PM today, Sept. 21st, in the Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23 South Bend. The Rosary will be said at 6:00 PM today. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM Friday, Sept. 22nd, in the funeral home, with Rev. Michael Couhig officiating.
