Alfred C. Tajkowski, 79, of West
Bryan Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 6:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5,
in Hospice House. He was born March 3, 1922, in South Bend, and
was the son of Stanley and Mary (Stempinski) Tajkowski. He
retired in 1986 from A.W.D. Mr. Tajkowski was a veteran of World
War II. He was a member of Polish National Alliance Lodge #83 and
the Chippewa Bowling League.
On Nov. 15, 1947, in South Bend, he married
Geraldine Rowan, who survives. He is also survived by a
daughter, Marcia (Dennis) Frye of South Bend; a son,
Robert E. (Joan) Tajkowski of Osceola, Ind.; and by two
grandchildren, Julie Pelletier of Indianapolis, Ind., and
Heather Meller of South Bend. Mr. Tajkowski was preceded
in death by a brother, Leo Tajkowski.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m.
today, Nov. 7, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower
Road. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Catholic
Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
