Martin L. Tarnow

June 9, 1893December 27, 1962

 

Martin L. Tarnow, 69, of Rt. 4, Niles, formerly of 726 Blaine Ave., suffered a fatal heart attack in his home at 7:45am Thursday after trying to start his car.  He had been under a doctor’s care the last two years for a heart ailment.  Mr. Tarnow retired from the Studebaker Corp. after 38 years.  He move to Niles from South Bend two years ago.

 

He was born in LaPorte County on June 9, 11893, and married the former D. Marie Hatfield on May 30, 1953, in South Bend.  She survives with a son, Martin Jr. of South Bend; a daughter, Mrs. Clement J. Gramza of South Bend and a stepdaughter, Mrs. George Simon, Grovertown IN; two brothers, Donald K. Newman of Rt 4, Niles, and Herbert C. Tarnow of Rolling Prairie; a sister, Mrs. Nora Parker of LaPorte and four grandchildren.

 

Friends may call in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home until 12:30pm Saturday, then in the Calvary Baptist Church where the body will lie in state until services there at 1:30.  Rev. Dale Mead, pastor of the Grace Baptist Church and Rev. Noel P. Irwin, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.  Mr. Tarnow was a member of the Calvary Church.
